不断的听到人说“大韦”释义精确,究竟怎么个精确法?我怎么没感觉出来呢?
是人云亦云还是切身感受?楼上可否详细说说?
随手举个例子,比如filing:
OALD8
1 [U]the act of putting documents, letters, etc. into a file
2 [C] (especially NAmE) something that is placed in an official record
3 filings[plural]very small pieces of metal, made when a larger piece of metal is filed
ODE3:
noun (usually filings)
A small particle rubbed off by a file when smoothing or shaping something
(ODE3收的义项居然比OALD8还少,真是少见)
大韦:
1: an act or instance of using a file
2: a fragment rubbed off in filing
没看出来大韦究竟是怎么个“精确”法?
我个人感觉大韦的编辑方针是简洁、概括,而并非精确。
读者对象是有一定文化水平、英语为母语的人士,定位是便携的口袋型工具书;
使用场景是阅读新闻/报刊/小说时随手参考,因为释义简洁,查阅不费时间,不像OALD或者SOED、W3那些词典,查个词动辄要花半天浏览各个义项,反而影响阅读。
但是释义简洁,也必然会损害它的精确性,有些词甚至只用一两个词来解释,我不太相信这一两个词就能把它的内在涵义完全表现出来。
