比较有特色的一本单词书,最新的是12年出的第五版。这本书在第一章"Learning New Words"里介绍了怎样查词典,介绍了一个词条里每一部分的内容是什么,怎么用,还有怎么使用thesaurus和词源(这个很少见),最后给出了一些单词记忆的方法。第二章主要讲解单词,释义主要取自“American Heritage Dictionary"、”Webster's Third New International Dictionary"、"M-W College Dictionary"和“Random House College Dictionary",非常简洁,然后是例句、用法和一些常见错误,类似于Vocabulary.com上面的说文解字,但是没有词源信息,趣味性可能低了些。之后的章节主要是测试,词根,常见的错误用法和学科术语、缩略语等.
