郎5英英、朗5双解和朗6英英的 accident 词条中，Common Errors「常见错误」栏目注明如下：
COMMON ERRORS
► Don’t say ‘a small accident’. Say a minor accident.
但是同样在这三本朗当中，本身就存在 a small accident 搭配的例子：
bump2 词条下的释义
4. informal a small accident in which your car hits something but you are not hurt
mishap 词条下的释义
a small accident or mistake that does not have very serious results
这就让人摸不着头脑了。继续查 Oxford Collocations Dictionary for Students of English，第一版里 accident 词条下倒确实没列出 small 的搭配。但是第二版里却有：
• ADJECTIVE bad, dreadful (esp. BrE), horrible, horrific (esp. BrE), major, nasty, serious, terrible, tragic, unfortunate | deadly (AmE), fatal a fatal road ~ | minor, slight, small | bizarre, freak Their boat sank in a freak ~.
--> 查牛津高阶7,8,9，其中的 mishap 的释义中也均出现了 a small accident 的用法。
--> 另外，BYU-BNC 和 BYU-COCA 里搜 small accident，各有三个结果。
--> 顺道还查了坛子里下载的 Longman Dictionary of Common Errors，发现 accident 词条下的例子是"a big accident"错误，而"a serious accident"正确，没有举 small 的例子：
Her car was involved in a big accident.
Her car was involved in a serious accident.
a bad/dreadful/nasty/serious/fatal accident (NOT big)
……
那么问题来了，作为英语非母语者，正式/非正式场合下，a small accident 这个搭配究竟可以使用吗？抑或用是可以用，但是不建议？为什么不建议？（为什么词典里自己都这么用？） |
