刚发现一个牛津双解第二版中的一个翻译错误！

注意 rake over coals 这个表达的翻译：重新忆起最易忘掉的往事。

这个翻译是错误的。正确的意思应该是：反复的提起某些早应该忘掉的事情。

实际我们再看一下学习性词典的释义，就更容易理解这条翻译错在哪里了。

重点应该是“重新忆起最易忘掉的往事”当中的“最易”翻译得不当。
best 在这儿应该译作“最该，最好，最应”。

作画的最佳时间是白天。

另，查找的过程当中很少看到例句有写作 rake over coals，一般都写作 rake over old coals, rake over the coals/ashes...
There's no point in raking over the coals - all that happened twenty years ago, and there's nothing we can do about it now.

看词源可以说明问题：
The earliest example given is from 1565: "S. Augustine, that knewe best how to fetche an heretike ouer the coles." (OED). From the practice of dragging or raking heretics over coals performed by the Catholic Church as a form of torture.

你说的那个表criticize是
rake/drag/haul sb over the coals

区别只在于这个宾语somebody。

而rake over coals 只表示旧事重提，有没有over coals都只能是这个意思。

但我查找的过程发现以下是正确的
rake over the past
rake over coals
rake over old coals
rake over the ashes,(但没有发现有rake over THE coals)

但是表criticize的表达是 rake/haul/drag sb over THE coals, 这个表达中是一定要有the的。
