《哪吒》北美预告片的中英翻译讨论

偶然看到《哪吒》的北美预告片，仔细观察了里面的中英字幕，认为有些地方值得讨论。首先呢，我先给出完整的字幕加上我自己的CH-EN版本，抛砖引玉。

电影本身，朋友拉去看了一遍，在这里不作电影内容质量的评论啦，重点放在预告片的字幕翻译上。因为只看了一遍，大致情节是了解的，但无法回溯太多具体细节，预告片中的一些片段背景也难以完美还原。

所以，我的理解难免有疏漏，表达的逻辑与语法也不敢保证百分百正确。但我尽自己最大努力去分析和理解，给出自己的答案。毕竟这个帖主要是讨论，不是彰显能力，希望在献丑的同时，能看到大家不同和新鲜的分析和见解。

刚刚在youtube发现另一个英译本，猜测是民间版本。总体感觉比官方的好。下面会补上这个版本的内容。

1.这种结果当初也不是没想过

官方：We expected this might happen
版本2：We did imagine this result in the beginning.
Me: We all knew it would happen one day.

(版本2应该是最精准的，特别是in the begining的用法，in the begining强调总体时间线的开端，at the beginning是单一时刻的开始，类似in the morning和at 8 a.m. 我的看法是电影中的李靖夫妇其实已经接受这个命运，中途的一些作为（拜师除恶）只是让他过段开心的日子，做他自己想做的事。所以我认为夫妇心中是没有其它结局构想的，该来的早晚会来）

2.都尽力了
官方：They tried their best.
版本2：and tried to stop.
Me: We've done all we can.
(我感觉都差不多，不太明白官方为啥用they. 这是哪吒母亲的台词，夫妻两对于哪吒内心转变的贡献是不可忽视的，在影片都有明显体现。所以都尽力了肯定含有自己的付出努力）

3.可能这就是吒儿的命吧
官方：Perhaps this is Nezha's fate.
版本2: It might be the fate of Zha.
Me: It might be the fate Zha must accept.
(这句感觉没啥可说的）

4.我自己的命自己抗
官方：I will be responsible for my own fate.
版本2：I live on my own.
Me: This is my own destiny and I will take it.

5.不连累别人
官方: I will not be a burden to anyone
版本2：and won't draw others down
Me: No more innocent people hurt because of me.

6.哪吒就是魔丸
官方：Nezha is the Demon Pill
版本2：Nezha is the reincarnation of devil ball

7.这就是魔丸转世的妖孽

官方：This is the reincarnation of the Demon Pill.
版本2: It is the demon reincarnated by devil ball.
（由于电影院迟到错过了开头，我对魔丸来源不太清楚。喂鸡写的是：元始天尊将混元珠提炼成灵珠和魔丸两颗，本应是灵珠转世的哪吒因为太乙真人的失误被魔丸托生，生来便注定是混世魔王。魔丸应该是类似注满邪恶之气的魔珠性质，但本身不是一个实体的恶魔。我理解的是寄生和影响的关系。魔丸怎么翻译？网上没有明确的答案。我暂且翻译成the orb of demon吧：Nezha is a devil affected by the orb of demon when he was born.

8.我用乾坤圈才压制住他的魔性
I have to use the Qiankun Hoop to suppress his demonic nature.
Only the universal ring can suppress his demonic nature.
Me: Only Universal Ring can stop him when the devil within awakes.

9.我施了天劫咒
I have cast a heaven made curse.
I spelled a curse to end him with the whole power of heaven
Me: I have cast a curse full of heaven power

10.引天雷下凡
It will cause a lightning bolt to destroy the Demon Pill.
Including the divine thunder down to the earth
Me: It will result in divine thunder three years later

11.摧毁魔丸
three years later
to destroy the devil ball.
Me:to eradicate Nezha.

12.爹，娘，谢谢你们
Father, Mother, Thank you.
Dad, mom, thank you for all.
Me:Father, mother, thank you for everything.

13.龙族等待千年的机会
A chance the dragons waited a millennium for.
The only chance our dragon clans waited for a thousand years.
Me:Here's our chance that we waited for thousands of years.

14.你管他是善是恶
Why do you care if he's good or evil?
Who cares he is good or evil?
Me: Doesn't matter he is good or evil.

15.他都是个死。
He's going to die when the lightning bolt strikes him.
He is doomed to die.
Me: It's his destiny to die.
(感觉强调的还是死亡的命运）

16.他想把陈唐关给活埋了
He's trying to bury all of Chentang.
He wants to bury all the people in Chentangguan alive.
Me: He is destroying the whole Chengtangguan and drowning people alive.

17.看来我的时间到了
My time is almost up.
It seems my time is out.
Me: Time to say goodbye.

18.别挣扎了
Stop struggling.
Don't try to struggle
Me: It's no use struggling.
(这里我认为强调的是无论再怎么挣扎也没用）

19.这就是命中注定
This is your fate.
It's the fate.
Me: Accept your fate.

21.去你个鸟命
Forget your fate.
Go hell your idiot fate
Me: No fate bullshit
(我认为不是针对命运本身，而是针对接受自己命运的一系列论调。）

22.我命由我不由天
I am the master of my own fate!
My fate is decided by myself, not the God.
Me: My destiny is written with my hands, not God's.

23.是魔是仙
I am the one who decides
Being a demon or an immortal
Me: Demon or Xian

24.我自己说了才算
if I am an immortal or demon!

Me: I have the final say.

25.别人的看法都是狗屁
Forget what other people think

(这里我倾向于是对观众说的）

26.你是谁只有自己说了算
You are the only one who controls what you become.
You are the only one deciding who you are.
Me: The only person you eventually become is the person you decide to become.

27.这是爹教我的道理
That's something my father taught me.
This is the lesson taught by my dad.
Me: A lesson from my dad.

28.找死
You're doomed.
Go to hell.
Me: Die
(doomed出现了很多次，这是科林斯的解释：If something is doomed to happen, or if you are doomed to a particular state, something unpleasant is certain to happen, and you can do nothing to prevent it. doomed不一定指死亡。）

29.如果你问我
If you ask me

30.人是否能改变自己的命运
Can a person change his fate?
Whether a man can change his fate?

31.不认命
Not to accept,
Don't believe in fate
Me: Defiance of fate

32.就是哪吒的命
is Nezha's fate
is the fate of Nezha
（这里好像有语法错误吧）

33.若命运不公，就和它斗到底
If fate isn't fair, fight it till the end.
If you are disfavored by fate, then fight it to the end.
Me：If you don't want to surrender to your fate, then fight it to the death.
(这里存在一个认知问题，命运本来就是不公的，没有若，没有如果。只能说不公的方面和程度有差异，一些人无法忍受这些方面的不公和程度，那么他们选择奋斗反抗。而有些人就选择接受和忍受。第二个无疑是比较好的诠释。)

总体感觉，国内影片的台词翻译主要偏直译，个别表达符合西方人的口语习惯。把大致意思翻译出来，老外能看明白，任务就基本成功了。另外一些基本功没做好，专业词上的琢磨还欠火候。翻译美感不足，光看英文字幕就像是读新闻通讯。

不过我这方面关注的少，印象流罢了。写完收获还是蛮大的，一是很久没做翻译练习，感觉还有很多东西还补；二是电影、游戏的预告片也是一个不错的英语学习材料，基本都有中英两版字幕，可以对照做翻译和口语练习。

5.不连累别人
官方: I will not be a burden to anyone
版本2：and won't draw others down
Me: No more innocent people hurt because of me.

hurt 是很重的词，跟「innocent people」放在一起，读者的第一反应是受伤，怎么能行呢

其实原来的翻译是对的。你这么翻，大概因为《现代汉语词典》这么解释：

连累

因事牵连别人，使别人也受到损害

「损害」这话可宽泛了去了！光是《史氏汉英翻译大词典》，就列了「损害」的8种情况，《现汉》释义不准，你又信了它，所以弄出 hurt 来

「连累」应该用「受累」来解释，汉语大词典：

受累
I
受到牽累。
II
受到勞累，消耗精力氣力。也常用做客氣話。

「连累」的程度可以很低，低到「牵连了人家，让人家累着了」，累了休息一下就恢复了嘛！不是什么大事。所以可以做客气话，不能用hurt这么重的词来对应。

北外《汉英词典》说「involve; get sb into trouble」，这些都是对的。还有几个比较书面的词，可以参考：

incriminate
暗示(或显示)…有罪;牵连,连累

He was incriminated by an eyewitness who placed him at the scene of the crime.由于目击者提供看见他在犯罪现场的证词,他被牵连进案件。

entangle

使卷入,使陷入;牵连,连累
He was entangled by intrigue.他陷入了阴谋圈套。

这两个词都是强调「连」，「累」是隐含着的。

当然了你既然是翻译口语材料，这么书面的词自然用不着。提出来只是方便理解。

最后补一句，「连累」的「累」读lei4，并不读中国大陆词典上面标的那个错误的lei3。词典那么标，是《普通话异读词审音表》搞的鬼。审音表修订稿承认错误，又改回来了，呵呵！

总体上感觉你的翻译比原来的翻译差。特别是把原来简短的句子过度的翻译了，不符合口语的习惯。
If you don't want to surrender to your fate, then fight it to the death，比如若命运不公，我们都知道欧美强调的是人生而平等，所以说直译If fate isn't fair更符合他们的逻辑， fight it till the end 和fight it to the death 从字面上都对，不过从气口上the end 好过the death,不信你大声喊的时候，是不是感觉end 比death更有气势。何况死亡不一定是 the end，孙悟空到地府还跟阎王斗呢，你能说death就是结束？
你是谁只有自己说了算
You are the only one who controls what you become.
You are the only one deciding who you are. 美剧看多了我站这一句。
Me: The only person you eventually become is the person you decide to become
25.别人的看法都是狗屁-
Forget what other people think
Others' comments on me are all bullshit 我站这一句还是那一点，翻译逻辑都可以，但是气势上不好意思，另外两句弱了。
Me: Don't give a shit what others say。

其他的翻译大都是这个问题，本来一句话能说完的你翻译成了从句，这也是我感觉别扭的原因，过于书面化，导致气口不畅。

另外Universal Ring是正确的翻译，但是我还是倾向于Qiankun Hoop，因为中国的网文走向世界的时候，大家都遵循了一个原则，那就是中国特色的，维持中国特色的翻译，龙我们就是long,不是dragon，太极就直接音译的，TEA也是来自福建广东的口音，玩游戏里你对老外打CNM，他直接骂你FUCK OFF，没别的原因，他知道CNM什么意思了，甚至CNMGB入选了俚语词典。所以关于中国神话的内容还是不要找西方对应的东西来翻，一来文化不自信，而来老外更摸不着头脑。

谢谢你的分享。
第一点，短句变长句，口语变书面，我觉得是自己是翻译过程受到前两版的影响，如果单看中文原句，我翻译出的可能与官方和第二版一样或者差不多。

但既然人家都有了，我就不往那个意思靠了，很多翻译我觉得已经够好了，我也是那么想的，但还是努力提供一些不同的译法，因为要强调”全方位的不同“，所以会”刻意“地折腾。比如前两个句式都一样，那有没有别的句式。前两个都这么短，我能不能提供长点的。

不公平，奋斗到底，我第一眼看也很容易翻译出isn't fair, fight to the end,大家都很轻松翻译出来。只是自己很”矫情“地弄出一个不同的，供大家讨论。我可能就是强迫症，不愿意做相同和相似的事情。

不知道你自己对于这些句子有没有更好的译法。

嗯，跟西方人讲中国文化，确实得有中国自信。可能他们第一次听到Qiankun不知道啥意思，但可以借助universal的意思帮他们解答。之后交流就直接用qiankun，他们慢慢也就熟悉这个词了。

关于CNM,CNMGB我自己是肯定不愿意用的，因为还是太恶毒了，无论线上线下。

bullshit, damn it, fuck之类还好。

个人感觉动画片之类的翻译虽然字面上简单，但是要翻译的传神还是很难的。如果是英译中，我们有母语的优势还好一些，但是中译英，难度就大了很多。如果你倾向于译英，最好不要闭门造车，毕竟很难脱离母语的影响范围。有段时间我看斗破苍穹的英译版，翻译者是老外，但是他懂中文，翻译后用的单词都是超出我们认知范围的，尽管你可能都认识那些单词。作为我个人来说，没精力也没心情去翻译这些东西了，生活中使用英文也就是跟客户聊聊天，发发邮件，越来越接受语言只是个工具，也可能是我老了的原因，毕竟奔四了。

很有意思的是，昨天居然刷到了YouTube频道-Fulinfang拂菻坊更新的外国人看哪吒的真实反映，一个懂中文的老外翻译了哪吒的预告，if destiny is unfair then I am destiny! 想不到吧。 Perhaps this is Nezha's destiny. 之类的，整体翻译还是验证了我的一个观点，就是翻译的单词一定要适配当时的语气，该怒的时候单词一定不会是闭口音，该简练的时候绝对不会用从句，不然就算是翻译的再明白，电影也不好看。

是的，节奏很重要。突然了想起一句话： 'Fate whispers to the warrior, 'You can not withstand the storm.' The warrior whispers back, 'I am the storm.'

另外，WOW的预告中文翻译水准一直蛮高的。
印象深刻的8.0开场白：
Ours is a cycle of hatred; Alliances forged and broken.
生生不息的怒火，一再破碎的盟约。
（如果是中翻英，估计就难以还原气势感）

同时一些英剧的字幕非常值得品味，英国人说话犀利讲究，讽刺意味强。厉害的字幕组就能把当中的韵味提炼出来。很多英剧有在线剧本，下载或打印下来，做翻译练习，对照字幕检查。
比如最近看的《皇家律师》，第三遍看了，很多令人寻味的词（人的修养和思维）：
Sir, your upstairs and downstairs need to have a talk.

Gather up all your experience, bring it to your mind, and park it next to your anger.

Once you start not telling the truth, it gets harder and harder to stop. Dishonesty has its own momentum, and once it becomes a story, it is impossible to pull back.

There is a difference. Judy Garland had some bastards feeding her pills so he could go over rainbow night after night.
