听力资料来自 BBC 教学节目【The English We Speak】
（中文部分是自己的理解）
说的是某男邂逅一位 “白富美”，交往中觉得对方的条件优于自己，于是打趣的说自己是【punch above my weight】
当然节目中这段 “艳遇” 是虚构的，目的是为了教会我们使用地道的表达法（文中还有其他例句用法）
【Feifei（女主持）】So Neil …（Neil）
【Neil（男主持）】Yes, Feifei ?（什么事 Feiei？）
【Feifei】Everyone's asking who was that beautiful woman you at lunch with ?（大伙儿都在问和你一起吃午饭的漂亮女孩儿是谁？）
【Neil】Ah, she’s … just a friend. A new friend. Very nice, new friend.（普通朋友而已。刚认识的一位不错的朋友）
【Feifei】Ooh, you really like her !（看起来你蛮喜欢她的）
【Neil】Well, yes, she’s lovely. She’s a doctor.（是的，是位美女医生）
【Feifei】Neil, I just can’t help thinking … she’s so pretty !（我不禁在想，那么漂亮的女孩儿 ...）
【Neil】What are you saying, Feifei ? She’s too pretty for me ? As you know, I punch above my weight !（你的意思是我有点配不上她？没错，对我来说是个考验）
【Feifei】You certainly do. And I’m not saying you’re fat !（的确有点，更不用说你那肚子！）
【Neil】Haha, yes. ‘To punch above your weight’ is our phrase in this Authentic Real English. It means to achieve beyond what’s expected of you.
（哈哈，是的。“To punch above your weight” 是地道的英式表达，意思是完成 ”超越自己能力范围的事“）
【Feifei】We can use it to describe the performance or influence of companies or even countries. Or in this case, when Neil is going out with someone more attractive and successful, we say he's punching above his weight.

〈非正式〉勉为其难。
《新牛津 2》的英文释义和高阶的差不多，可以看出是 “从事超越自己能力范围的活动或比赛”
而中文释义译为 “勉为其难”，好像是做一件 “不情愿的事”，一下从 “进取主动” 坠入 “消极被动”
如果按照这个翻译，那上面的故事岂不是：”勉为其难“ 或”不情愿的“ 去追求一个比自己优秀的 “白富美“ 了吗？
这样就显得太做作了

《英汉大 2》这个解释只是陈述了困难的事实，却没有表现出积极向上的精神层面
《新世纪英汉 胡壮麟》

《新世纪英汉》的释义 =《新牛津 2》+《英汉大 2》，例句翻的也总觉得别扭
个人理解应译作【在世界舞台上，他没有机会彰显自我】
