doomer 不是一个新词,W3就有:

doom·er \-mə(r)\ noun -S
[²doom + -er ]
1 archaic : one that pronounces sentence
  2 : a prognosticator of doom

但是doomer有个新的意思,这次瘟疫在欧美爆发以后热度大增,那就是——认为人类马上要完蛋灭绝的人。喂鸡百科:

A doomer is someone who believes that global problems—including but not limited to ecological exhaustion, such as overpopulation, peak oil, climate change, and pollution—will cause the collapse of civilization, significant human population die-off, and potentially lead to eventual human extinction.[1] The ideology is defined in opposition to more optimistic outlooks on life. Doomers believe that government corruption, civilian apathy, and/or structural oppression are unfixable.[2]

Wiktionary:

doomer (plural doomers)

1. One who believes that petroleum depletion will inevitably lead to a severe recession or depression, followed by a Malthusian catastrophe.
2. (rare) One who, or that which, dooms.
3. (neologism) Someone, usually a man in his twenties, who is apathetic or has a negative prospect towards the world; used as an analogy to boomer.

baby boomer
生育高峰期出生的人,生育高峰儿

好些英汉词典标榜说自己有「文化信息」,特别照顾「英语学习者」,怎么连个boomer都懒得多说两句。请看idioms[thefreedictionary.com]:

baby boomer
An American person born during the "baby boom" following World War II, between the years of 1945 and 1965, during which the population of the United States increased by 40 percent. Typically used to describe members of this generation, who have been associated with economic prosperity, consumerism, self-indulgence. Primarily heard in US.

boomer 是富裕、优渥的一代,所以造一个doomer,难逃一劫、末日降临的一代,无望的一代。

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

英汉词典收新词收得不好、文化信息不足,这些都可以理解,客观条件有限嘛。不过,我马上给大家看一个叫人大跌眼镜的词,喂鸡百科:

Late capitalism (or late-stage capitalism) is a term first used in print by German economist Werner Sombart around the turn of the 20th century.[1] Since 2016, the term has been used in the United States and Canada to refer to perceived absurdities, contradictions, crises, injustices, and inequality created by modern business development.

这词什么意思?咦,不就是中国人最最最熟悉的马克思主义的术语—— 「晚期资本主义」吗!

这词本来是20世纪初提出来的,是老词,结果从21世纪开始在英语世界又重新流行起来,你们看看美帝人民多么水深火热啊。眼光敏锐的Oxford Dictionary of English收录如下:

late capitalism
noun
(Chiefly in Marxist thought) the latest or current stage in the development of capitalism, especially capitalism since the end of the Second World War (1945), seen as characterized by the dominance of multinational corporations, globalization, and consumerism, and as having permeated all areas of social and cultural life.
Origin
Early 20th century; earliest use found in Weekly People (New York). After German Spätkapitalismus.

结果最爱讲政治(进口别人的词典都要涂黑内容)、曾经最爱用马克思列宁主义革命例句的中国英汉词典/汉英词典,反而没有一家收录late capitalism/late-stage capitalism,没有一家收录「晚期资本主义」,还一个个吹嘘自己查得率高呢!
