ON A BEACHSIDE walk in Mexico in 2010, Kevin Systrom’s girlfriend explained the problem with his new photo-sharing app, then called “Codename”. Professionals might want the world to see their pictures, but her own phone snaps weren’t good enough. 我对这句话不太理解。前面是 professionals，后面是 her。这些 professionals 是什么人？是专业摄影师吗？Kevin 的女朋友跟这些 professionals 是什么关系？

不客气！
可能是因为不好意思，也可能是达不到“code”的标准发布不了，还有可能是其他原因。这就像现在完成时的一些用法，缺乏上下文或已知条件就会有很多可能。这句话补充完整应是：
but her own phone snaps weren’t good enough (to be shown to the world)
所以字面上只知道不够好，再深一个层次的原因需要读者自己去想，当然也没有必要这样深究。

不懂别误导别人，学英语本来就不容易。her指的是Kevin Systrom’s girlfriend，professionals指的是professional photographers。

zhang82yi兄正解。Systrom把他开发的还没有正式名的app给女友用，可女友觉得自己拍的照片效果比不上专业摄影人士，拿不出手。于是Systrom给加了个滤镜功能。

另据Wikipedia说，这张（舔）狗照片并非Instagram上的首秀：

The first Instagram post was a photo of South Beach Harbor at Pier 38, posted by Mike Krieger on July 16, 2010. Systrom shared his first post, a picture of a dog and his girlfriend's foot, a few hours later (at 9:24 PM). It has been wrongly attributed as the first Instagram photo due to the earlier letter of the alphabet in its URL.

是不是应该这样理解：
photographers 拍出来的照片好看，所以他们愿意把自己的照片分享出来；
而 Kevin 的女友照的照片不够好，所以不好意思分享。

我觉得professionals也不是指professional photographers吧就是指专业人士。他女朋友跟他分享用他开发的软件过程的问题，所以就是提出了这个问题，不是说她觉得专业人士拍出来的好看所以她也想（虽然她肯定也希望拍出来好看），但这里只是说，她用的过程中有这样一个问题，所以提出来：专业人士会希望自己分享的照片好看，但是她用自己的手机拍出来的不好看
