Since the world limped into 2020 carrying unknowingly a coronavirus, fires have been reported in many places of this planet; some caused naturally, as in the bush of Australia, in Brasil's Amazon rainforst, and, more recently, in several states of America; others ignited with the intervention of human force, which gives you that Armageddon scene left by the blast of tons of explosives in Beirut. But even more devastating are those flames stalking the mindscapes of many human beings, pernicious, persistent. The convergence of covid's negative impacts on people's health, mental wellness, and socioeconomic status has changed the world of 2020 into, during lockdowns, a giant open prison, where inmates and correction officers are all pining and moping, many of whom dying; or, during protests, into an unregulated nuthouse, where inmates and their psychiatrists have run amok, alternately shouting and panicking.
