韦氏高阶：
a group or collection that is impressive because it is so big or because it includes so many different kinds of people or things庞大的人群；浩繁的收藏品 — usually singular通常用单数
A panoply of drugs [=a wide array of drugs] is now available to treat depression.
现在有多种药物可以用来治疗抑郁症。

牛津高阶8、9:
a large and impressive number or collection of sth 巨大的数量（或收藏品）
这两本的译者都把collection理解成了类似艺术收藏的「收藏品」，可惜是错的。韦氏高阶的译者错得格外稀里糊涂，人家原文明明拿group 跟collection 并列啊！
这里的collection，应该取新牛津义项2，而不是义项2.1

有人要说，如果我收集了很多芭比娃娃当艺术品，朋友来我家，华丽地展示给人家看，不是panoply吗？当然是。问题是，「艺术收藏」这个意思本来就是「一批人或物」底下的小意思，不能误以为panoply 只指艺术收藏，那是把意思说窄了。
