让我开始产生困惑的句子大概是下面这样的（非母语使用者书写）：
With the help of multimedia, teachers can now demonstrate what they found hard or even impossible in the past.
这句话本身应该是没问题的吧（？），只能认为是省略了to demonstrate，所以局部的完整句就是：
Teachers can now demonstrate what they found hard (to demonstrate) or even impossible (to demonstrate).

删掉并列部分的impossible，精简句子结构之后，问题似乎就来了：
Teachers can now demonstrate what they found hard (to demonstrate).
按照上面的逻辑，to demonstrate是可以省略的部分，但是这个to do结构存在与否，似乎会影响对这个句子的理解？即：
Teachers can now demonstrate what they found hard. 教师可展示【他们原本认为困难的】内容。
vs
Teachers can now demonstrate what they found hard to demonstrate. 教师可展示【他们原本认为很难展示的】内容。

如果认为这个句子的两种语义差别还不够明显，或者不至于产生理解差异的话，进一步去掉可能影响句义理解的时态标记（can demonstrate...found）并更换动词，写出如下句子：
They must tell us what they find hard (to tell). [如果认为这句话显得奇怪的话，也可写作They must tell us what they find to be hard. ]
按上面的理解，有无to tell岂不就会产生两种语义差别较大的解释了：
They must tell us what they find to be hard. 他们必须告诉我们觉得哪里难。
vs
They must tell us what they find to be hard to tell. 他们必须告诉我们觉得自己难以启齿的东西。
这样一来，脱离具体语境的话，They must tell us what they find to be hard.就是一个有歧义的句子了。
这个结论我是无法接受的
请各位大神帮忙看看，这个理解的过程是否哪里出错了。

补充1：造成这个情况的条件似乎比较苛刻，涉及将形式宾语引入最基本的find sth +adj结构（意为“对某事物有何观感”，延续感觉，带主观色彩，第一类动词[见陈用仪《英语常用词疑难用法手册》]），从而转化为find it +adj+ to do sth，然后将其名词化，嵌套在更高一级的分句之下，且主句的谓语和find it +adj+ to do sth结构中的do相同（否则无法省略）。
补充2：(?)They must tell us what they find hard to. 这个句子似乎就没有歧义，不过提问关注的是没有句末的to时的歧义情况。
